We glanced over this at first and then thought it applied really well to interior design. Visually, a room that doesn't allow the eye to have intervals of rest WE "will not endure." We've been told that traditional Japanese interior design is all about planning for the shadows and empty spaces, not those that are full. We think they understand this concept of "rest" well.
