We're talking easy things, like unplugging electronics when they're not in use, running your dishwasher only when it's fully loaded, and avoiding heavily packaged products.
Take a look: and while you're there check out the Carbon Impact Calculator.
Shouldn't it be "borrow" the CD?
I've spent the last 6 or so weeks leaving things unplugged when they arent in use. I was shocked to know $14 off my regular $70 bill. Its good for the planet, and I can put the $14 into the 'pretty things fund'!!
Ooops that should read 'knock $14 off my regular $70 bill'. Overexcited typing....
Re unplugging... what if I turn my power strip off (to which all my plugs connect) but leave it plugged in?
Margaret,
That'll work just fine, in fact, that's what I do. As long as those little transformers aren't getting electricity, you'll be saving $. And it's a lot easier than crawling behind the "entertainment center" to get to the plug in my case.
Funny, I just got around to seeing it too. Does everyone else come away with wet hankies and a hankering for anti-depressants?
But seriously, great film. You can see it for free on PeekVid at http://tv.peekvid.com/feature/movies/57/An-Inconvenient-Truth.html
Pass on the link to anyone who might have missed it. I did, and actually had one friend write back that "Mars is getting hotter too, so it must be that the sun is actually to blame...it's getting stronger." Obviously a good chunk of the "red" states haven't been exposed to Al's PowerPoint yet.
We've turned off our power strips. Can't wait to see the savings!
