ASAP House: Affordable Modern Green Home
NYT 1.27.08

Architect Laszlo Kiss (what a great name!) is preparing to move his family into a modular, energy-efficient home in Sag Harbor that features a geothermal heating system and solar panels. As reported in The New York Times, new homes in this area of Eastern Long Island are some of the largest and often are built with average costs well over $1000 a square foot. Mr. Kiss' prefab design should come in around $265 a square foot. His design, the ASAP house (About Saving a Planet) is customizable for those who want a modern green home without a high price tag...

In Solar and Relatively Affordable?, the ASAP house is compared to the Dwell prefab home being built on Shelter Island. The ASAP home is less expensive and can be built more quickly.

For more details on the design check out Solar and Relatively Affordable? from The New York Times. More details (including floorplans and diagrams) on the ASAP house are over at InHabitat.

It is very nice....but I love SG Blocks. This company is building homes from used containers! You can put any siding you want on the outside, and never know it is a container. You can stack them, use them side by side any way you like. I think a Frank Loyd Wright look would be amazing. I love this company....great work!
