Earth Hour is a worldwide act of solidarity in turning off lights as an act of energy conservation. It was inspired by the city of Sydney, Australia, who started a trend of turning off their lights for one hour in a show of support for protecting our environment. It's now spread to a global level, although Chicago is the only US state officially participating in Earth Hour.
