SHAZAM!

Dathan & Pirooz, what kind of strings do I have to pull to get my wife and I on the invite list to your next deck party?

You've made a good balance with the view and the plants. If you over-did the plants, it would distract and obstruct the view. The chair is also perfect for the location- you can see right through it so as not to obstruct the view. Great choice.

I miss Brooklyn!! I wish I could show you my backyard I had there. My 2 fab landlords planted it out in the 60's and it was a higglety-piggelty garden as it's termed. Now they live in Hudson and now even Martha Stewart visits their incredible garden. What a priceless view you have! I'm glad you have a nice place to come home to!

Very nice composition and furnishings. It's nice to see some plant diversity (and the Heuchera!).

with that view the trees below are part of your plantings. as someone view deprived, i wonder, can you get used to a spectacular view?

What an absolutely breathtaking view you have. Amazing.

The planters look great, and I love your view!

With a view like that, you could put a rusted bicycle and an old mop on the balcony and it would look sensational.

Very nice, though

this is nice, and certainly nothing wrong with it, but i'm confused as to why people are so enthusiastic. this isn't the 'best views' contest, it's the greenest thumb contest. i mean, do they have plants? yeah. but they really take a back seat to the view here. this doesn't compare at all to the rehabbed backyard a bit further down the page, in my opinion. and the shower wheatgrass and stoop garden are at least creative.

there should be awards in different categories, i think. best little bit o' green. best view. best lawn furniture. best DIY planter setup. most miraculous makeover.

because all of these spaces are great. it just doesn't seem fair for something like this or the wheatgrass shower to win when there are other entries that achieved far more dramatic results.

Love the simplicity, just enough and the wire chair, that does not obstruct the wonderful view!

Seriously, can you tell us what building it is...so we can look for vacancies there?

I agree with opoponax...it's hard to compare given the range of projects. This is an amazing balcony, everything is perfect...but does it show the greenest thumb?

Perhaps we are supposed to find one that blends all these elements of - a fabuous environemnt along with providing a green thumb factor to the space? But a hearty green thumb. I think that is the point - we are in the city, and the more green we can maintain while still residing in a city, the better.
Perhaps there are more submission yet to come that will be fitting of that perfect combination? How many more submissions are there? When is the final voting? We could go back and forth for weeks on this one.

quality is more important than quantity, in my opinion.

not to get nit-picky but this entrant adds just as much "green" to the space as the back yard rehab. this space just doesn't have existing vines and trees like the other.

Tom --

If you want the same fabulous view without paying the price I could suggest one on the other side of the river. It does not have a prestigious address but you can still have a view -

currently there are several units on the market. www.realtor.com.
The building is situated next to the 14th street in hoboken

I agree too with the opoponax and Jess.

They could have ruined this entry by filling it up with too much -- their restraint is admirable and that is part of the design concept -- the choice of furnishing surrounding the planters makes it particularly attractive and it's that knowledge, knowing how to mix hardscape with plantings that set it apart for me -- not the view.

What floor are you on? Very inviting.. and practical for the fireworks. It must be breathtaking to view in person. You're lucky. Keep working that magic.
