Zoomies is the only place in NYC that our client, Sara, will go for her two dogs. Sara lives midtown east and Zoomies is in the West Village, so when she said this to us, we paid attention (BTW this is a dogs only shop).
Zoomies is not just a store, it is an "instant family" for dog owners. "Warm, fun and friendly," the owners, Angelique and Susan, "remember you" and "care about you" and have stocked their store with unusual and "hard to find" dog supplies.
Yelp says: 4 out of 5 stars - "Go here if you like to spoil your pets with expensive clothing and toys."
Zagat says: High scores and high prices - "High style for Buster"

I have been there, bought a very cute collar for my dog's 5th B-day. The owner (I don't know which one I met) and her dog were both v. sweet.
They have a lot of cute and useful things, it's not where I would buy dog food as it's very boutique-y, even though I buy my dog "fancy" organic dog food, I get it at Furry Paws, which has several locations and more reasonable prices on basics like food.
The first time I went into Zoomies it was a madhouse.
But then they hosted a book signing event for a book that my dog is in and I really enjoyed the store.

Angelique and Susan are incredibly sweet! If they don't have something you want, I'm sure they can order it/find it. They are the perfect combination to be running that store - they love dogs and have years of high-end retail experience.
I;m so happy I came across this mention of Zoomie's, Susan and Angelique really know what they are doing and have such fabulous taste...so fabulous, that they now carry The Pet Set stationery and thought you would like to know.
The Pet Set is a collection of fine stationery featuring one-of-a kind illustrations, you can see them on the spinner at Zoomies.
Continued success with your blog.

Angelique and Susan are absolutely wonderful and spent loads of time with us, even before we got our dog. Their dog accessories are utterly stylish (as I write, my dog is blissfully dozing on one of their beautiful dog pillows) and I am sure that just one stop at Zoomies will be enough to convince most people to bypass the mass pet stores and come to this unpretentious, friendly, and exceptionally well-informed haven for pets and their owners in the West Village.
Smart and stylish goods, but... A friend purchased a rather costly lined tweed coat for my yorkipoo and within one season the clasp came off. We brought it back to see if they could get us another clasp, or have it repaired, and they said they could do nothing for us. "Take it to a tailor," they said. I was very surprised. They're stocking and promoting the place like a very high-end boutique but they're certainly not providing that level of service. Caveat emptor.
If you have a pet, and you live in Midtown, you should be going to Spoiled Brats, on 49th between 8th and 9th Ave.
(They will also deliver, all up and down the West-Side.)

Oh, Spoiled Brats is very service oriented, and they carry more designer dog totes, coats, jackets, etc., but without all the attitude.
It is a very low key, family owned store, with mechandise for both dogs and cats. They carry more varieties of foods than any pet store I've ever seen. Their selection is exceptional.
Caryn's comment about Zoomies dated 7/17 should be completely discounted. Not only are Angelique and Susan, the most caring and considerate individuals, but they also sell high quality merchandise and stand behind it 100 percent.
For example, I bought a wonderful portable dog bowl which tore at the seam after I used it. They replaced it without question and with apologies.
Further, I ordered a special leash, but when it came in Susan refused to sell it to me because it did not meet her high standards.
They also truely love animals and treat my dog Shadow like royalty.
I recommend Zoomies to any dog owner -- or dog -- looking for great merchandise, treats, etc., and an enjoyable shopping experience.
Dear Apartment Therapy,
I am surprised by the comments from Caryn
posted since 07/17. They are totally incon-
sistent with the welcoming and understanding attitude of Susan, Angelique
and Chouchou, star Yorkie. A few months ago
i personally bought a collar and later a lead, which inadvertently did not match exactly. Susan who saw us, insisted i come back to their store to rectify the matter. I only need to
say "Zoomies" and my dog is running to our
door, ready to go and visit their store. Angelique and Susan are the pet whisperers
in fashion, health and fun. Truely yours, edmee
I too found the negative comment above impossible to believe. I live right around the corner from the shop and I am in there all of the time. My dogs are addicted to the kelp sticks and the liver daisies. I am addicted to the incredible good taste of the owners and their great warmth and hospitality. They have a strong sense of ethics and they truly stand behind everything they sell. I have never heard any negative comments about the owners or their merchamdise. EVerything I have ever putrchased there has held up very well. I have tons of Zoomies collars, leashes, and beds . Everything is not only stylish, but well made. And the owners are kind, honorable people. I have seen (and experienced personally) more genuinine acts of kindness than I could possibly list here. They are a welcome addition to the neighborhood.
Zoomies is simply the best. I live on Long Island and do not hesitate to shop at Zoomies! Susan and Angelique are the most caring people, I know, because my son lost some very important items and they took the trouble to contact me. They are fantastic! From now on all Christmas gifts, birthday gifts, etc... for my dogs will be purchased as Zoomies!
Maybe they are nice to dogs, but they are mean to children, and I am embarrassed that I live in the neighborhood of this awful store. I walked into this store with my daughter this afternoon to buy a pet toy. My daughter, who is one years old, picked up an item and snuggled it. The store clerk, who I believe is the owner, said "that's handmade - she can't touch that!" she proceeded to walk over and viciously rip it out of my daughter's hands, who was in my arms. Needless to say, my daughter was traumatized and I was in shock. Had she given me a moment, I could have had my daughter put it down. I was very shaken up and my daughter was screaming, which is not her personality - she is very good natured and does not scream in stores. We walked out of there and within seconds I was trying not to cry myself. I have never experienced something like this before, and this is definitely not your friendly "neighborhood" store.
