Tof Design

Ready for more from Lift-Off Loves? Check out the latest from Tof Design, Floor van Ast and David Krings, Asylum Collection, BLOK meubel and finally, Ontwerpers.

Tof Design - Pressed wood never looked so good over at Tof Design. Partners Niels Blok and Jet Vlietstra form this exciting design duo.

Giving the common metal fan a bit of an upgrade with a warmer tactile feel, you can position them however you please - roll them around, mount them on the wall - whatever works best for your space. Tof briefcases are in production and will soon be sold for around 250 Euro each, the fans and other items are prototypes.

Floor van Ast and David Krings - Both Floor and David hope to bring the traditional Dutch kitchen into the 21st century with their fresh take on common tools. Their display included gadgets for smoking fish, canning and lemonade storage, a cake display, along with cookie stamps and other misc. items. Most shown in porcelain or glass. Prototypes only, not yet for sale.

Asylum Collection - This stimulating collection is the result of a collaboration between Bo Reudler aned Seroj de Graaf, who completed internships with both Marcel Wanders and Richard Hutten. Reudler and Graaf feel that "Minimalism doesn't satisfy any longer - it served it's fuction but neglected fantasy." Through their range of products for the interior, they seek to stimulate emotion and imagination. After much constructive criticism, nominations, and an award, they've decided to start production on the collection this year.

BLOK meubel - Eindhoven-based Furniture designers Maurice Blok and Anke van Gestel introduced their prototype 'Cut Chair' in oak, glass, steel and concrete. Employed by top Dutch designer Piet Hein Eek for 10 years, Maurice decided to head off on his own and with design partner Anke va Gestel, formed BLOK meubel.

"Our philosophy is quite simple: At BLOK meubel it is all about form following function. This basic quality can be found in all of our products and designs".

Ontwerpers - Christiaan N.J. Oppewal and Silvijn van der Velden of Ontwerpers in Rotterdam exhibited their latest creation, the Classroom Chair, designed for reading or working on a laptop. The small table is detachable, and is weather resistant for days when you'd like to work in the great outdoors. Standard color choices are green, white, light blue, deep blue, red or black, and other colors are available upon request. Prices will run around 1490 Euros.

This wraps up a few of my favorites from the Lift-Off Loves Exhibition from Dutch Design Week, Eindhoven. Next up... the Dutch Living Room!
