This week I visited Flora, a shop that is known for its innovative floral design. It has a constant rotation of interesting objects, flowers and plants with a detail and variety that would make John Derian’s decoupage displays jealous. I take Thompson Street when I want a quieter way to go south to Canal. When I do, their tiny storefront always catches me by surprise. The center of the store has frosted Lucite cubes which cast light up onto the vases and plants presented on them.
I stopped in this past weekend as the sun was going down and was treated to chamomile. This is the season when I drink chamomile tea non-stop to fight off the season’s cold. The vendors at the GreenMarket say they carry chamomile plants and fresh blossoms in spring, which explains why the chamomile Flora has available is dried.
FLORA

Thank you for the beautiful pictures from Flora. We love that store and visited it when we were last in New York. We wished that we had taken photos when we were there, so it was really nice to see again tonight. They have exquisite taste and style.
Just went to the Flora site... dearGOD their work is BEAUTIFUL!
Reminds me of the work of one of my favorite in-town florists, Upper East's Bloom. (Jane Packer-- in The Terence Conran Shop-- and Spruce in the West Village my two others...)
