apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Tatami Mats

04.04.tatami.jpg

Take a cue from the experts of small living during this smallest coolest apartment month. Tatami mats are like a building block of Japanese domestic interiors. Their dimensions (roughly a 2:1 proportion) drive the size, proportion, and layout of space in traditional residential Japanese architecture.

The mats are aromatic, resilient, and add warmth underfoot. Some places to look:

Nothing to do with Tatami mats, however, you list Chopa as a source.

I recently purchased the Digital Zen Alarm Clock because my old one made my cat nuts in the morning and I always woke with a sense of urgency.

These alarm clocks are wonderful. The digital in the flat box is gorgeous, of excellent quality, and you wake to a sweet, sweet chime, and then shortly after that, another, then another, and I can feel the difference. I wake in a much better frame of mind and my cat is less frantic in the morning :) Truly, nice clock.

Hmmm, nice clock and a nice chime, but I'm not convinced that would wake me in the morning! Don't get me wrong, I hate the sound mine makes, but it does the job and I'm grateful for it.
