The product is the Log Maker, but we've only found it in England, like here, at the Greenshop. But follow that link up top for directions to home-make your own without the Log Maker.
Is there any warning about what paper is safe to burn (i.e., what will give off gasses bad for the environment, pets, people, etc.)?

Baisically most sources will say that burning glossy magazine papper or wrapping paper is a really bad idea. The reality is that the chemicals and ink (it ain't all soy peeps!) used can be harmful when lit, let alone the fact that it is pretty unsafe to light it as these tend to start up quickly and burn BIG. It's also not good for the air as these types of materials create some pretty bad smoke and ash,(different to that of non processes wood), and in some urban areas this becomes a problem.
Perhaps this could be used for alternative insulation? Fort building blocks for the kids? Anything brick shaped has possibilites, just maybe don't burn them :)

Do people really have enough waste newspaper to make these nowadays? We used to have morning papers and evening papers plus tons of Sunday papers but now most of our reading is on line and this is better for the environment. Glossy paper will not burn like old fashioned newsprint. Who likes the scent of newspaper?
