Bauhaus Apartment Building in Tel Aviv
The New York Times

7-15-bauhaus-israel.jpg In the international real estate section of The New York Times, we get a peek at a Bauhaus building from the 1930s in Tel Aviv! Tel Aviv is home to the world's largest grouping of buildings in the International Style and it is exciting to see the interior of this renovated duplex in "The White City"...

"The White City" was named a World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2003: "The buildings of 'The White City' were designed by Jewish architects, who had studied in Europe before their immigration to Palestine, which later became the State of Israel."

I read this article earlier in the week and thought it looked more late 1930's Art Deco than Bauhaus.

Also, some of the furniture is very long how did they get it into the apartment..I see there maybe an operable window on the top floor where they must of craned it in..curious.

...this is a UNESCO heritage site? You've got to be kidding me. I'm a huge fan of all things modernist, but these buildings are nothing special and the apartments seem quite cramped from the NYT slideshow. Did politics have something to do with the UNESCO decision?

either way I wish the interior layout/furnishings better reflected the heritage of the building. from the inside, you can't tell it's any different from houses that are built today.
