Last month, The Washington Post featured a series of murals in private homes in and around DC. Our favorite surprise was the Marc Chagall garden mural in a Georgetown home. This mosaic work is the only Chagall mural in the world featured in a private home. Chagall was friends with the home owners and made this mural especially for them...

Made in France, the mosaic was flown to the U.S. in 10 panels and attached to the garden wall with bronze pins (so that it can eventually be moved). The home owner, Evelyn Nef has bequeathed the mural to the Sculpture Garden of the National Gallery of Art in DC.
The Washington Post also featured other murals in private DC-area homes, including A Touch of Tuscany and Watermelon House.
