For the past two years we've run our Friday special photo gallery with the help of Meter Gallery and a particular theme - a sentence that wants to be finished - always related to the home. Now that it's 2007 it's time for a new theme...

As we did last year, we'd like to invite you to suggest a theme and we'll troll through them as we try to come up with the perfect one.
For this year, what are some good half sentences that would suggest a new theme? Remember it's a celebration of photography and our homes and it's gotta be good enough for us all to come up with a great photo each week.

Comfort is . . .
I love the out the window/out the door idea. Maybe "From my window I can see.."
or more broadly:
"My favorite thing in my home is..."
There's no place like...
why not...
zen is.....
Did someone say...
oh good ones! how about "my favorite place to sit and ____"...
This is where I....
I third "I heart . . . " and second "My favorite thing in my home is . . . "
I like the "out my door I see..." thought. Or to broaden it some, maybe "out 'the' door I see...."
As well as "my window overlooks..." or maybe "outside 'the' window I see....." to again broaden the possibilities.
Or how about "I saw (or found) on the street...."
Current obsession...
I like "I open my door..."
These are really good. Thank you. The important thing is that while we open it up to take in all kinds of things and experience, it still ties into our homes in some way.
So far I think these do that:
i open my door and....
my window overlooks...
I live with... will attract unending pet photographs i think.
Smells like..... will always be Teen Spirit in my book.
A celebration is...
Had another thought about the series in general. While I appreciate the professional photos you've used in the past, have you every thought about making this entirely community based? A separate flicker page for the theme where one entry is chosen each week for the front page? And someone more clever than me might think of a commercial application for these images in the AT Store, provided that participants all agree.
At my kitchen table
Maxwell, That's the whole idea of "I live with..." Ha ha, not totally! could be art, could be an odd feature that one has to work around, could be a fabulous view...
i think the "at my kitchen table" idea would be fantastic for the AT kitchen site-- if that is even a possibility...
I like the window idea a lot - I'd like to see something that reflects our URBAN existence, not the usual suburban/realsimple/feel-good kitch.
Crazy neighbors or unsightly problems could also be fun - perhaps that is better for the 'community/flicker' approach ;)

how about "i was forced to part with....."
third eye of my home opens up to
Home is any four walls that enclose ...
Based upon the quote: "'Home' is any four walls that enclose the right person." by Helen Rowland (18751950), a journalist.
Howa'bout "I never thought I would love..."
This might also bring up the pet photo issue (kidding). But what I really have in mind with it is the stuff in your house (or about your house) that grows on you: the cracked floor plank, the impossibly skinny closet door, the purple armchair your ex swore would work. I think it will highlight the risks we take with design and confirm that sometimes the risk is worth it.
How about: My idea of peaceful is...
From my couch I see (or I feel)... OR just
From my couch...
if I lived forever...
I smile when...
I love being at home because...
OR
What I love about my home is...
my favorite nook.

my collection of?
I am...
This is... (going beyond the defined 'home' is)
I call it home...
Happy (or joy) is...
I also fancy
"I heart..."
"I open my door and..."
"There's no place like..."
"Zen (or peace) is..."
All about diggin' the digs!
Oh, home sweet home..(;
"Welcome to (my)..."
My favorite item at home is ...
my laptop :)
my peaceful/chaotic hideaway...
Nothing pleases me more than...
I sleep here . . .
[that is, I'd enjoy a series on beds . . . and couches and the occasional glen or glade.]
LOVE "I never thought I'd love . . ."
and "i had to get rid of"
My choice was/is...
I like the "I never thought I would love..." because it really does have to do with several things in a compact little phrase: something having to do with home, which is important; a changed attitude about something; something that's positive.
But it really does seem to almost require text to accompany the stuff, as opposed to how that feature as been, which is just a simple photograph.
The great thing about Home is... is the way it starts squarely within the central thesis of AT and then moves outward to make us think of our homes in new and bigger ways. There are all sorts of similar applications across the AT brand:
Nourishment is...
Green is...
Family is...
So, on the original AT, my vote would be for a new trope that keeps that spirit.
If home is "any four walls that enclose the right person," what is a living room, especially in an urban context, where we spend so much of our lives outside the home, and where private and public so often collide and intermix?
A living room is... your favorite bench in the park
... the deli guy that remebers your name
... your favorite people-watching perch
... your urban escape
... your fire escape
etc etc.
