House Tour Button07.jpgWhen I walked into the apartment, I was floored at what I saw literally hundreds of stick puppets spanning 70 years of Indonesian puppetry lined up on eight tiers alongside one wall of the living room.

When I looked at him with my dropped jaw, Paul said, I have a very tolerant wife. Over the years he has upgraded his collection, selling the less desirable ones and acquiring better quality puppets. Paul's wife affectionately refers to Paul's collection as "the Mercedes Benz we'll never own."

"This is my rebellion," says Matilda when referring to her apartment on the first floor of a 50's era apartment building in Brooklyn Heights. Other than college, Matilda has always lived in Brooklyn. Much of that time was spent in a brownstone in Cobble Hill.

Almost everything in my collection are from estate sales and antiques dealers in western New York State, primarily Buffalo and Rochester. Almost everything is vintage with the exception of a few furniture pieces and some textiles. My home is a two-flat built in 1939..."

Bill and Maria, founders of Uhuru Design shared their home with the design crowd at last week's meetup. Not only do Maria and Bill love their two cats, but they happen to be talented designers who have their own company and who make great stuff out of simple materials. So, almost all of their furniture and of course, the cat obstacle course, was made by their own hands.

Dave's loft is divided into two levels by a staircase he built himself, with the lower serving as his bedroom and paneled closet - quiet and perfect for sleeping. The ground floor functions as everything else. One enters through his office, into the the large main space. This has been divided up into several smaller areas: a small living and media room, a dining area, a second work space, a hallway closet, and the kitchen...
