To add to the rather schizophrenic feeling on our New York front page, what with all these Boston and DC posts now piling up, we, ourselves, are out here in Los Angeles blogging from Gregory's home. But being LA, we had to take a coffee break and head down to Sunset Junction...

Where we had some amazing coffee at Intelligentsia Coffee and saw these beautiful tile floors....

"A large, airy space, designed by architect Barbara Bestor, reflects its Silver Lake neighborhood, with its casual, bright décor. Seating 64, the retail store seats eight at a coffee bar and 56 on a large outdoor patio, as well as a standing bar reminiscent of a European wine bar."

and these cool new French design chairs.....

and then we went down to Kelly Green to check out the new store (and just missed Kelly herself, running out the door)....
and then we went to Reform School, where our BOOK IS ON SALE (we should have taken pics).

Now we're back on Lucile, getting online and serving up fresh posts till well after 5pm eastern (check out Gregory's double wide screen setup!)......
Lucile Ave.?!
I used to live on Lucile, south of Sunset, until moved back to NYC in 1994. Great Spanish stucco 4-units apt. with increadible view. My good friends/neighbors are still there.
Enjoy the trip.

Is it odd that my first thought after reading this was "Wow... a cardboard(?) moose head! That is awesome!"
So perhaps I have rather...quirky... tastes...

Maxwell---Intellegentsia is great, but you need to check out LaMill while you're here! It's gorgeous inside, (furnished by the guys at Rubbish Interiors) and has super yummy coffee and food. It's on Silverlake blvd., in an awesome red building.
I'm surprised Gregory hasn't made a post about that space yet.

brookejoy: You're right...I need to profile LAMill for their unique interior. I'm mostly a home brew drinker, so I've only admired the luxe coffee shop decor from across the street from Michaelangelo's.

Is the art from Kozyndan? LOVE their stuff - we have like 6 of their prints up! :)

those monitors are SWEET! those would be ideal for surfing and reading blogs! however i wonder how much adjusting you'd have to make if you were a webdesigner-- you know, working out elements against different screen resolutions, etc.

Great space. I have the moosehead. What is that awesome looking chair you're sitting on? I want to say the Leap but it's been a while since I've sourced task chairs.

Can you please not use the term "schizophrenic?" I'm pretty sure that the apartment doesn't have a psychiatric disability characterized by delusions, hallucinations, affective flattening, and disorganized behavior. Not only is the hijacking of this term disrespectful to those who have schizophrenia and their allies, but it's not even remotely accurate in what I think it is that you're wanting to describe. What's next, decor that is "crippled" or "retarded"?

SisterRae: indeed they are the works of kozyndan. They were gifts from the artist duo, given after we helped organize their apartment/studio space a few years back.
Jahue: But it is a Mac setup :) The dual 24" Dells replaced a single 23" Apple display.
wedgienet.net: I came from a print/product design background, so fortunately that hasn't been much of a worry.
Daniel Michael: yup, you're correct!.
