I think well-crafted MCM is about as proteinaceous as furniture can be. Though I'd be happy for a jump-the-shark verdict one of these days-- better prices & pieces for us lifelong devotees (**sniffs self-righteously**)

I think using a phrase like "Jump the Shark" should automatically disqualify the speaker from rendering an opinion on the current topic. Could we please ban that awful phrase before it becomes ubiquitous among the general population. "Past it's prime," "no longer fashionable," "OMG Soooo yesterday," and "Out of style" are all perfectly acceptable subsititues, and save the speaker from being outed as a square.

With a few exceptions, mid-century was ugly when it was new and it's even uglier now. At the time, it was considered cheap!

Any reference that makes you think of the Fonz cannot be square, no matter how overused it is.
