I like the way the bulk of the chairs disappears. The chairs are a bit of a muddle, chrome, lucite, wood(?), but I like them.

Cover them in something else than black vinyl. A nice fabric would look like it's floating in the air

I voted 'so not'. But, come to think of it...if the seat cushions were lightened up and the chairs were coupled with a glass (rnd or rectangular) table in a light and airy decor, then yeah they would be 'hot'. Totally hot!!!

If the seats were recovered in a natural texured material these chairs would have a fresh light look. We have had this lucite discussion before and some people had very strong reactions against it. I think lucite used as an accent can add a litte sparkle to a room. I visited Aero, and Coconut Company today and the vintage lucite lamps and table I saw had certain appeal
even in their scratched condition. My point is these chairs have a certain vintage appeal that could give a new table a much needed anchor.Sharon, you are righty, right, right.

Very unique. Definitely cool.
It is very interesting how different the opinions are; and very strong too. I am sure if they were a new design by one of the celebrated designers, the vote would look different. And as PAS hinted; the surroundings always matters.
