it reminds me of the lovely scandanavian baskets my mother always had laying around the house for stashing magazines/pillows/dogtoys/etc/etc
oh, and it kinda looks like the bent wood chandelier that she made from a kit in the late 1970s
so mid-century bentwood goregousness
i just wish i had the space (and the money!) for one!!!

it looks comfortable and not-too-weird. i like all of those gehry bentwood pieces though, even if they're kind of advanced, design-wise. i doubt i could actually pull it off, but i still like it.

as prince sang, it"s the sign o the times. i can't vote on this chair by the great frank gehry. it's a decade thing.what did people think of the wiggle chair in the early 1980's?

Maybe I will be slapped around for saying this, but I find Gehry's work in general (and this chair in particular) to be novel in appearance but shallow. I could give examples (Performing Arts Center at Bard, for one) but this is not the place. I think my opinion on him soured when I saw him interviewed on "Charlie Rose" a few years ago. He said of himself that he was possibly greatest living architect. Ugh. But the house he built for his family in Venice Beach was great, long ago in the 80s I think.

The peach basket effect created by Frank Gehry was dated the moment it hit the sales floor, and it has not gotten any better in the last decade or so. Having sat in one of those chairs at a dinner party for an hour or two, I can also testify that they are not comfortable either.
