Not my style or color at all, but I bet they'd look cool in a couple of the very modern orange rooms we saw in the latest contest.

take them out in the back yard, go over them with a propane torch and then lacquer them. they'll look just like that gorgeous mooi chair! Except you might have to reupholster.

These chairs have potential, I think. This type of furniture seems so hard to integrate into a modern setting, but with the right upholstery, and maybe even white paint on the wood, they could be reborn.

Yeah, I think the orange makes them immediately current; nothing has to be done except put them where they need to be, unless the upholstery is in bad shape. But it looks pristine to me.

I think they're great. They're like cartoon characters, the Addams sisters taking a rest, about to start ambling towards their next destination. They're anthropomorphic and dopey in a way, with those mod '60's Gidget hairdos in ornate wood. They would find a corner for themselves and just hang out, bickering and gossiping, watching and critiquing.

Not loving the brown wood frames, but lacquer them white or leaf them silver and we have ourselves a deal.

P2--just what I was going to post! Now I feel all proud that I had the same idea you had (since you have great taste) :)

I'd like to argue that the brown wood makes those "that-girl"-logo-shaped flips that pinch the backs of these beauties seem kind of brunette in a kicky way. (If you insist on doing anything to these, perhaps some VERY careful aluminum leafing onto the tiny floral motifs to re-inforce the idea of twin tiaras!)
And to emphasize that, I want whoever buys this pair to buy a VERY modern curvy sofa in the shape of an s-curve that echoes them or, better yet, Karim Rishid's new Orgy Sofa that happend to flip onto the Fine Living channel the other day and see him show off. Because it's modern, but the ends of curve symettrically inward which would beautifully complement these chairs.
I would probably want that in a brown, or maybe the kind of rust that happens when you mix this orange and that brown, but I would have to see the rest of the room.
But if anyone is going to fill this prescription, I want pictures!
