I think it's hot, but in the kind of hot-button kind of way that would be VERY interesting to have something that looks so ordinary be such a strange conversation piece.
I mean, are those bullet holes? Or was something screwed in? There's a conversation starter with there! Methinks that one might need to put glass over the whole thing to give it some sparkle AND to maintain whatever historical patina it might have.

the listing says
"when the police raided the offices for the last time, the Panthers put this steel desk up against the door to block them out. It's got three bullet holes to prove it."

I think it would be VERY interesting to have a whole home-ful of just fairly normal-looking stuff like this where the only really interesting thing about each thing would be its story.

Or what if you had a home-ful of items that all had bullet holes? I don't even think I've seen a real bullet-hole before. I would be an easy one to convince that these are the real deal. I guess they could be used to hold flowers :)

Matt, have to say my first thought when I read your post was, "wow! someone who hasn't seen a bullet hole in real life?!" - then I had to stop and think, "dang, why should that seem so surprising?"
Feeling philosphical today...............
