The chair frames are charming... the upholstery, less so. Yeah, mildly ironic use of "inappropriate" fabrics has been IN for ages, but a dinky countrified plaid?

But I think that wende's explanation of "where it all went wrong" is spot-on. If I had room for them, and plenty of money to re-upholster them, I think I would go fot it, because I like that open carving at the top, and they do look kind of comfortable.
But that upholstery is totally terrible.

I think the upholstery fits a certain type of Mario Buatta-fied interior style (where this was just one of a dozen patterns, all same color scheme).
But also agree the chairs could have a swinging second life with a hip change of clothes.
Ah, if life were only that simple!
