Beautiful and sculptural, but I will say I'd use it for jewelry or maybe accessories like scarves and belts -- the drawers are too shallow for much else.

My hot/not vote would depend on whether or not there is some sort of locking point that keeps the drawers aligned. If I had to perfectly align them myself, or if, say a brisk walk too close to it knocked the drawers out of alignment, I would vote NOT.

Interesting in an artistic, craftsy way, but looks totally impractical for day-to-day use, not to mention a major dust collector.

I want to paint it fun colors!

I love it, but I see it in the corner of the dinning room/area to store napkins, placemats, and other table top accessories. I can't see keeping clothes in it. I agee with robyn about the need for a locking device to keep the drawers from free-floating. Also, the dust between each drawer might get out of hand. But cool!

I have a tiny one on my desk designed with the same principal that I use for paperclips, erasers, etc. I love it. Never had a problem with drawers flying open when I bump it; but of course on a larger scale, who knows.

It would be a bit more hot a) painted or stained; and b) if the drawers somehow slid out (rather than sideways) so you could place this in a corner to save some space. Then it would be aesthetic and functional.

Useful art? Hot.
Artful storage? Not.

wander_woman, I think that the drawers actually pivote around the central axis. I that is the case, you could definitely use it in a corner.
And have round drawers can be used for round stuff, plates, bowls and such.
I'm saying hot

my first thought was also that useful desk top storage solution. Not sure it would work on a larger scale, though. I think it would waste space inside and outside the unit.

Definitely a space waster...
Unless you roll your t-shirts etc. and store them end up?

I think it is a pretty piece and would not paint it. The natural wood veneer with the details of the grain is lovely.
I can see this sitting on its own in a room.

Hi guys!
Thanks for all your comments.
It might be a trick of the photography but the drawers DO pull straight out, they don't swivel, and when you push them back in they have a stop so that they all align with each other.
It's not actually as much of a space waster as you might think, the drawers are quite deep and a lot more practical than even I thought they would be when I made it. Having said that, it's obviously not quite as practical as a run of the mill square chest.
The gaps between the drawers provide plenty of space for you to get a feather duster or even your hand in there to dust.
If anyone has anymore questions please email me chris@chrismurphyfurniture.co.uk
Thanks
Chris

scary crazy hot! Not sure how useful, but who cares?

It would be perfect as a nightstand as well.
I'd definitely love to have it.

Certainly asking for a veneer/color change, though.
