Hot or Not? Knit Crocheted Beatles' White Album

4-30-hotpillow.jpg

We spotted this during a visit to a nearby neighbor and had to take a pic. A loving recreation of side 2 of the first disc of the White Album. More detail below the jump...

Okay, I'm revealing myself as a total nerd...but I think that's crocheted, not knitted.

It's one -of-a-kind, hand-made? Hot.

It's a mass-produced novelty from a big box? Not.

Clampers,

1) I hate crochet

and

2) I hate the Beatles.

Clampers, I'm with Princess Fiona, here. The Beatles were highly overrated and recreating their junk in another media is just more junk.

hrhprincessfiona and bfootnovellista -

Maybe someone can knit/crochet a Britney Spears album for you?

You hate crochet? What does that even mean?
It's a craft. What do you hate about it? The yarn? The hooks?
I've crocheted since I was about ten. You can make millions of things, rugs, hats, scarves, shirts, socks, potholders. And if I'd known you could sell things like this for 110$ I would have made those too.
Love the idea, and if you check out her site there are a lot of other albums Blondie, Led Zeplin, The Doors. (In case you think the White Album is 'junk')

Who cares what random people on the internet think? If it makes your neighbors happy, then it belongs in their home.

As someone who crochets -- and crochets things that are decidedly not "fugggly" -- I can imagine making one of these as a kitschy gift. While just because you *can* crochet something doesn't mean you should, this would work in certain circumstances. (A gift to an ex-honey of "our song", maybe?)

I would use different yarn(s) to try to add that silvery-grey light-reflecting sheen along certain parts of the LP surface. By making it more "realistic", you extend the kitschiness. Wink wink.

I don't see myself paying for one.

It's cute, but I would not purchase one of these for my home.

Loved the Beatles from the start, hate the pillow a LOT. Too kitsch. Too ugly. I can't even find words...

Wow. That's an awful lot of emotional drama over yarn and differing musical tastes. Looks like someone with great creativity and passion spent a lot of time on something very sweet.. and did a damn fine job of it too. I know this is a 'hot or not' post, but yeesh. Why the snark? Who's that for? Just vote no and move along.

Anyone who thinks the beatles are overrated should take a second look at all of the beatles number 1 hits... They have an entire album of them. maybe you just can't appreciate good music... I don't know.. But the pillow is most certainly cute! That must have taken quite a bit of effort!

1) Kitsch usually implies something that's mass-produced, sentimental and "calculated to have mass popular appeal." This may be sentimental but it's so handmade. Can things made by hand be kitschy?

2) Is there a generation gap going on here? Just wondering.

3) I love it (baby boomer here)
