Hot or Not? Oil-Rubbed Bronze Modern Faucet

5-2-oil-rubbed-bronze.jpg

This image of Altman's new Nuva faucet surprised us a bit: It's one of the few modern faucets we've seen in an oil-rubbed bronze finish. Sleek and modern faucets have always been most popular in a shiny chrome or brushed finish — and oil-rubbed bronze is usually reserved for the more traditional styles...

Even on the Altman's website it is difficult to find an example or description of the Nuva faucet pictured. We imagine this finish is an option that is just not purchased (or photographed) very often. What do readers think? Via: Trendir.

Bronze is the new stainless steel.

The contrast of an 'old fashioned finish' with a modern design makes the sum so much greater than it's parts - it provides something unexpected, rather than "conventionally modern"

It reminds me of the bamboo water fountains, the angles:

Looks like you can have any finish you want from their selection, and view it via their interactive tool (if you have the right plug in, which I don't).

It makes more sense to me to have it set up that way, too. So that everyone can have exactly the right finish for their home.

Unfortunately, individual faucets are not very green. One can only get warm water by mixing in the bowl. Single lever handles-Rock!

i really like the oil rubbed bronze stuff, but i have a feeling it's going to become the new avocado green of the early 21st century.

notsocooldad, are you nuts? Of course you can get warm water coming out of that tap! It's when you have two separate taps - not two separate faucets- that are the problem! Have you not used a sink lately?
