So much has been written about Julian Schnabel's real estate piece de resistance on the West Side, but we like to look at the pictures and consider that at least two of the five units are currently empty and advertised for $18m and $30m, which means we can take a peek: Enter Chupi Tour and make up your own mind... Hot! ...in an "Elle Decor", old European sort of way. Maybe there should have been broader survey choices? I like it but don't find it markedly bizarre (at least not in the context of the region's vernacular architecture). Still, great find... thanks Maxwell!

mm...raspberry sorbet.
and, how is that ever a bad thing?
i like it!

Like lightspeed said, the survey's lacking choices. Where is "So bizarre that I ADORE it"?

Perfection in every way.

All of the above, very ego driven but what a tasteful ego.

sorry, but for 18 or 30 mil, I'd expect something more than a tenement bathroom. I can't help but wonder what will happen to this if it sits vacant for long...

I've been going back and forth as long as images of it have been floating around the world of blogs...I think I love it architecturally, especially the "public" spaces, such as the pool, entrance, and terraces, but hate almost all of the decor, and a lot of the dark wood is over-bearing in a bad 70s lodge/cabin kind of way. That is, of course, all before discussing the purely insane prices....

Like a dream, surreal and beautiful all at the same time. I'd live there.

BTW, Chupi is a spanish childish expression for "Nice" or "Fun"

Unfortunately it looks cheap even if we know it isn't.

i love it. i also feel like the choices here are odd, and kind of biased...
and yes, its obvious this came from a lot of ego, but how is that a problem? Living here would be a dream i think- the pool and terraces... could you imagine throwing a party on that terrace?
though i do agree with someone else - i get what they were trying to do with the bathroom, but its just not in line with the price of the units AT ALL.

On the inside, hot. On the outside, weird.
The pool? Want.

Slice of over-the-top Las Vegas in the middle of NYC. The exterior looks completely out of context and while those balconies might be nice in the summer, they aren't going to weather NYC winters well. Just seems worn down already although I realize that's part of the aesthetic. I'm all for trying something new but just get depressed looking at interiors that seem like abandoned church interiors.

azure's comment re Vegas is spot on.

I don't disagree with the Vegas comment but that's one more reason I love it.

It looks like a tribute to architecture, but the actual decoration alternates from minimalist to sporadic and cluttered. Could anyone feel comfortable living there?
