This unique yellow sofa, named Pleats-Pleats by designer Daniel Hedner of Imaginary Office is made from 19 strips of upholstered polyurethane foam, woven around a powder-coated steel frame. Is this the modern interpretation of macrame Janel predicted this time last year?
Hot or Not? Pleats-Pleats Sofa by Imaginary Office
Personally, we love the texture created by the woven upholstery — what an interesting and inspiring technique. It reminds us of the Flocks large scale knit poufs. We can also imagine the Pleats-Pleats design as a DIY. Using old t-shirts sewn around foam tubing, one could use any discarded metal chair frame.

not hot... sooo not hot. i like my polyurethane foam fabric-covered, thank you very much. it looks like a very well thought out, but un-pretty, DIY. the frame is also hideous.

i like texture and color - so, yes. i like it.
but, it does not resemble macrame to me.

I agree with the person who compared it to those woven potholders made on the little plastic looms. I loved making those as a kid in the early 80s. Not sure if I like the sofa, though. Doesn't look terribly comfortable and I would think that dust and pet hair would get caught in all the crevices. Maybe it's designed more to be looked at than to be used, though.

Should be called Plaits-Plaits, not Pleats-Pleats. On second thought, don't bother—no clever marketing ploy will sell this.

I like the texture it creates but the overall look isnt that attractive.
It almost looks like outdoor/poolside furniture to me.

Think of the imprint those pleats or plaits or whatever they are would leave on the back of your legs. And yes, adamwa, does look like this might be better suited for poolside use.

I'd like to see it in some other color that does NOT resemble the naked polyfoam or rich egg noodles! Maybe even a print knit in bright colors. (What's wrong with potholders, anyhow!?) Or how about a metallic lame'??
I can imagine it would be fairly comfortable, new, but I wonder if it would hold up for any length of time? Stretching and sagging might happen...
