Hot or Not?: Toilet Tatoos

We found these at the Home and Housewares show a few weeks back. What's not to like? "Toilet Tattoos are a hygienic, reusable, removable, decorative appliqué for the toilet lid, and born from Celeste Massullo's desire to accessorize her own plain white commode." More designs below the jump....

What if they made one that looked like a toilet with the lid up? That would be funny.

i don't understand why they're called tattoos. its very clearly a decal. like those bullet holes for your car door.

I don't hate the potty chart ones. Also reminds kids to close the lid.

i'll never subscribe to the desperation to doll up the toilet. it's a toilet. it has one purpose. it seems like some designers can't come to grips with the fact that maybe some things, like the toilet, does not require embellishment.

what's next....decals for the INSIDE of the toilet bowl? Is there any surface of the home that won't be subject to a line of decals?

I suppose I could theoretically get behind some nicely designed Blik-type "tattoos" (I agree - they should be called decals) but these are truly tacky looking, circa 1989 Spencer's college poster crap. Sorry, do not want.

The decal is a perfect match to the dusty rose wall and the wheat sheaf bouquet next to the toilet. Hello 1984.

Heinous.
And yeah, how long before they hit landfill? Saying they're "reusable" is the sort of mealy-mouthed faux environmental talk that makes me fume. What are you going to do? Spend your Friday nights swapping toilet seat decals with your buddies? Clean it and put it away carefully in a box in your closet when you get bored of it so you can pass it on to your grandchildren? Grrrrr.

Who comes up with this junk????

@El Jinx - in this context, "reusable" means you can take it with you when you hit the big time and upgrade to the double-wide.

(p.s. - checked out your blog - cool apartment!)

Have a little imagination. Yes, these designs are pretty heinous, but the concept itself is actually a pretty cool. What if, instead of a leopard or tiger print, the print was just a clean solid color, fine art or unique modern design. What if the "tattoo" looked a little more like this?

Hey, thanks Mella DP. It's starting (slowly) to come together (the money shots of ceiling mold and mushrooms are mostly buried back in September and November). I've found the blog to be quite a good way of staying motivated because I feel like somewhere out there, someone might be tutting and shaking their head when I get lazy. :)

Actually spossberg, maintenance people say men are less likely to create a mess if they have a "target" decal to hit inside the bowl!

NONONONONONONONO I thought this post was a joke...

I agree w/ heather leaf- a toilet is a toilet to me... it doesn't need to be decorated...

The fleur-de-lis one is nice. I am not interested in decorating my toilet in general and am unlikely to buy these, However I can see how they could be switched out by those who do redecorate often.

I change my curtains out a few times a year. Christmas fabric (mellow), winter fabric, spring/summer fabric.

It is a thin little piece of film. I agree that it is not necessarily eco-friendly, but as far as landfill why don't you all get lives, quit being snobs, and go fight disposable diapers or something.

By the way, since getting divorced My toilet no longer disgusts me. I clean it and it stays clean. Even when I got *very* sick, I was able to sit next to the stool and not feel any sickness from my location.
(In the past being near the stool *made* me ill.)

concept isn't bad, the designs though are horrible, even for a children's or stripper's bathroom.
