Hot Post: Sideblown Quince Tree Mural

2007_06_28_wall_mural.jpg

Don't miss this post. Up last Friday, Look!: Sideblown Quince Tree Mural, focuses on a new idea: oversized murals that transcend framed art and become a part of the room...

Painted by Jeff Robinson, this was featured in the LA Times. It reminded us of this great mural approach by Hakarl and Jili, Close-Up: It's a Bird! It's a Plane! No, its a tree in the living room!.

While I am not the floral type, the scale, the movement and the boldness of the graphic make it rock. I would love something like that in my living room, surrounded by bold punches of color.

Amenity does Huge wall Canvas's like that. They are just beautiful. Plus you can take them with you if you move! ;-)

Alright, somebody figure out how to go from a photo of branches against the sky to this. (Probably with a rasterbator stencil in the middle?)

I like it! I like it a lot. But not in a living room....Maybe in the bathroom? Kitchen? It seems distracting for a general living space...

Sidebar, does anyone know where I can find a chair like the one to the left of the sofa in the first picture? Would it be considered Chinese Chippendale?

Love the fluidity of the mural.

Not typically a fan of these types of super graphics, but this one is much more successful than many, partially because it breaks the molding, and partially because of that chair (which I do believe is Chinese Chippendale).

Cubanbee, try Williams Sonoma Home.

Very easy to paint this kind of graphic by tracing an image on transparency paper and projecting it onto the wall with an overhead projector.

Anyone ever done anything this elaborate in vinyl? I'd love to try something like this in my bedroom but find it a bit daunting.

Plus, I wonder how many sets are shown in the photograph...
