Too poor to eat out.
Amen, Charlene. I do grab something in midtown along with some turkey chili during the day... the chili comes home for dinner together with coffee my food stays in the $20/day range... which definitely adds up.
But I make 3 egg whites, and a small pot of irish oatmeal, usually with frozen blueberries and some coffee every morning. Pretty routine, but fast and good.
Well, I said I only cook dinner, but I don't normally eat out for breakfast and lunch either. I just don't consider eating cereal and making myself a salad for lunch "cooking." So, you, the readers, can decide ;)
I often work from home, so I really have to get out of the house for lunch and some sunlight.
Does toasting and buttering a bagel qualify as "cooking breakfast"? Yes? Good.
The weird thing is when I lived in nyc, there was an abundance of cheap meals that I could take out, but that doesn't really exist where I am now (TX) except for taco stands. Even Chinese food is expensive!
For the life of me, I can't figure out why Olive Garden in the burbs is more expensive than places in Little Italy...
It would probably be cheaper for me to eat out than prepare at home, because I like good quality food. But I like to eat at home especially since lately I've seen an influx of roaches at reastaurants and often I end up with someone's hair in my food.
