Contestant beware! If you get on that show, most of the projects you are assigned must be completed within a time deadline of 24 hours or less and within unrealistically low budgets. This means, conceiving a design, shopping for the materials, planning construction, constructing the project, and "merchandising" the space within 24 hours. When was the last time you competently designed and created a space within 24 hours?
I pity the people who lent their spaces to be "designed" by the contestants. I suspect they ended up ripping out everything and hiring professional contractors to do the job.
The winner of the contest is currently being showcased in a succeeding show, "Making of a Design Star". I think it's quite telling that the show airs at 11PM on Thursdays outside of prime time. Whereas "Design Star" was broadcast Sunday evenings. The actual show promised the winner as their prize has yet to be produced and broadcast.

I believe David's show will air in primetime in the Spring of 07. It takes awhile to get 13 episodes together.
Still, if you are a nobody and you are looking for exposure, this has to be a great opportunity, even if the limitations are rediculus.
I think the show starts Jan 10th(?) and is called...wait for it: COLOR SPLASH!
