Use more... waste less! The founder of Switch Planet, Chris Samarin, notified us that the site is newly available for anyone to join. The site is a trading center for dvd's and cd's. Chris says they will soon start trading books, electronics, tools, and other items according to user demand.
The idea of the site is to connect people who have things they no longer need with people who have things they want (one man's trash is another's treasure sort of thing). When connected, trades are made free of charge.
Users are also given an opportunity to donate money (that they would have spent on a new item if they had not made the trade) to SwitchFunds, which makes contributions to American Red Cross, Boys and Girls Clubs of America, The Nature Conservancy, and the American Cancer Society.
So, while the site is currently limited to a few forms of entertainment media, check it out. It sounds like they will respond to user demand and there is definitely a market out there for the exchange of home goods.
(thanks for sharing, Chris!)
There are similar sites that have a pretty loyal following. Check out Paperbackwap.com and Swapacd.com.

This sounds like Freecycle.org :)
I've been a member for over a year now, and I can't rave enough about this site - it's absolutely free and your trades are protected. DVDs, CDs, Games (all platforms), and more to be added in the near future. Highly recommend checking it out!!!
