MANDAL Bed with Storage

5-9-mandal1.jpg

Dreamy Bedroom Storage. We pulled this from yesterday's Hot Tip #4. lisa2 in austin vouches for the new MANDAL Bed with storage by designer Nike Karlsson for IKEA. Love it or hate it, this queen size bed with storage is only $299! Four large pull-out boxes for storage utilizes the space under the bed — perfect for small spaces (as long as the drawers can be accessed!). The site notes that it may be completed with a MANDAL headboard...

What a great, affordable alternative to Blu Dot's Modulicious Storage Bed. Also available from IKEA is the coordinating Mandal Storage Unit. Thanks lisa2!

I dig it, and you can't beat the price - but I'd be staining or painting that wood before you can say "boo!"

Love it! I only wish it came in King or CA King. Unfortunately, my husband says we MUST have a huge bed. I disagree but I lost that battle long ago... LOL!

What are those drawers made of? I'd be concerned about them being insubstantial. I would paint it too, but other than that, I dig this bed.

This is great! Hold Everything used to have a nice bed with storage, but that's history and gothic cabinet craft has many kinds but they're not very attractive. I always wondered why Ikea didn't have more storage bed options and they finally delivered.

With that wood painted white, this would be pretty sleek... Good to know, though I don't think I can overcome my husband's anti-Ikea bias.

Here's one on the UES for sale - - complete and ready to go. The big base is actually two pieces so that it can squeeze into tight doorways. http://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/fur/322742675.html

I like it a lot! I'd been planning to buy the Malm bed frame whenever the Portland Ikea opens, but I think I like this one more.

That figures, after a year of searching for something like this i just dropped almost a grand on a non-storage platform bed. Sigh.

Whoa, that whole line is pretty hot. I think one of those storage units might just be in my future.

nice
does anyone know if the bed can support a box spring in addition to the mattress? and anyone know if the "storage boxes" slide easily or are they a pain in the butt?

thanks.

Predictably, being an IKEA bed, this thing is pretty rickety. I highly recommend that you save your money and invest in a sturdier bed. The bottoms of the drawers are literally cardboard, and they always fall out or get knocked off the track. We had to put plywood on top just to keep our mattress from sagging. I completely regret buying mine. And by the way, if you're in Texas, I will gladly sell you mine!
