I love the sausage rug! Here's a link to a Fischli & Weiss Photo from the 80s. It called "The Carpet Dealer" Enjoy! (Yes, those are gherkins.)
There's plenty of
information about these Swiss photographers as there work is in collections of the Tate, Moma, etc. Unfortunately for me, most of it is in German...
Ummm... I gotta say "Ewww" on the sausage rugs. Just something creepy about 'em, like maybe they'd leave a big grease stain on the floor or something! Ha ha...
Ewwwww. That's disturbingly gross. What the hell? The lighting in the first picture makes it seem even more nasty. I'd hate to have balogna on my floor. That's why I'd never pay thousands of $ for it. Ick.
ewwwwww!
I love it.
For me it doesn't do the thing that art teachers tell you to shoot for, which is to have it "begin to become something else". It's still pretty much cold cuts in these pictures.
the gherkins in the first photo are freaking me out!
LOVE the first picture. After spending lots of time in morrocan rug marts, following elaborate rituals about showing the proper level of interest/disdain and watching as one gorgeous rug after another is thrown down, there's something about this that just seems brilliant.
wonder if this is how the stones of the pyramids were slid into place...human lubricant.
"you, yes you... just lie down with the others and position the stone with your legs and arms while we hold the stone".
