Robert Fuchs is the president of R. H. Orchids, a very successful nursery in Homestead, Florida. Mr. Fuchs has won over 800 prizes for his orchids and his love for the exotic plants and their hybrids is evident in his home. On ten acres of land originally purchased by his grandfather, Mr. Fuchs has a 3,800-square-foot, Mediterranean-style house, outdoor gardens and ponds (and pet alligator, Wally) and three of his ten acres are orchid greenhouses...

The New York Times presents us with Mr. Fuchs story of orchid appreciation (he hunted them in the Everglades with his grandfather) and his success and international attention for his craft in Reigning Trowel in a Kingdom of Orchids.

I love it. It looks like a bond villain lives there... "Ah, so we meet again Dr. Orc Hidacea." "Yes, Mr. Bond, but this time the advantage is mine; I intend to feed you to my alligator and use your remains to fertilize my beautiful deadly genetically modified Miltonopsis santanae. It will take top prize at the London orchid show next month, where upon it will be presented to the Queen. The last flower she will ever smell... perhaps I've told you too much of my plan, but no matter Mr. Bond, for soon an alligator shall eat your silver tongue and you will tell no more tales."
