Modern Manhattan Loft
NYT House & Home Roundup: 11.29.07

Quest for Cool. In They’re Mad, They’re Bad, They Sell Accent Pieces, Garry Jensen and Elena Bertinetto show off their Manhattan loft. The couple recently launched Deeply Madly Living a site for flashy (and often expensive) home decor. In addition to their own love of industrial finishes and flea-market finds, they had the help of Workshop/apd and SHAdi + Company...

We think the coolest thing about this space isn't evident in the photos or slideshow — it's the two walls between the master bedroom and the guest room. One is on a track and can be moved, creating the space for a third room. (Just like a really expensive curtain.)

I so wanted to rewrite the headline on this article to "Mad, Bad and Decorative to Know."

God, I think that place is hideous - eclecticism without style, accumulation without cohesion.

ok, gotta admit...the article does paint them in a rather annoying light...but I still love that chesterfield sofa (and the chairs).

Some vignettes work for me, but generally not a fan of the "let's pretend this is not a loft even though it is" aesthetic.

And, call me old-fashioned, but rugs would soooooo improve this place.

Do love the coffee bean (dark roast!) wall and ceiling int he bedroom.

Me to "Angie" I have been thinking of painting one accent wall in my apt a smokey flat black but I hope to be moving soon so I wont.

P.S. I think that particular wall is a very dark brown though.
