Toothbrush Holders
The New York Times 4.17.08

Don't ask us how The New York Times came up with a 1600-word story concerning the evolution of the toothbrush holder. (we're still shocked we read the whole thing). With a new Stylish Toothbrush, ATers might have long ago switched to Using a Toothbrush Holder as a Vase. There are some holders that will hold an ergonomic, fat-handled brush...

The two holders pictured at the top are both from Umbra and under $15 each. Though they require a counter to rest upon.

The Novis toothbrush holder (above) from Samuel Heath is wall mounted plated brass but costs around $100. (You can buy it from Simon's online for $75.) Because it cradles the neck of the brush, it accommodates large-handled brushes.

what the hell? seriously, i wonder how long it took him to put that article together.. and who thinks, "hey, i'm gonna write an article on toothbrush holders." hmm.. the best part?

"Both Colgate and Johnson & Johnson declined to discuss their stockier toothbrushes, preferring to issue brief statements celebrating the comfort and cleaning action of their products. “While there is no standard size for toothbrush holders,” Colgate added, “an increasing number of manufacturers make holders with larger holes.”

Seriously, companies declining to discuss their products.. kills me.. but then again they probably thought that guy is an idiot.

Well I didn't read the article but think toothbrush holders are obsolete with the popularity of Sonics et al.

Was this article a punishment for the columnist?

Having your daughter's toothbrushes touching is gross, according to this article - is there a medicine for that?

That is weird . . . and weirdly timely, since I just yesterday purchased a toothbrush holder at Homegoods to hold my pens on my desk.
