apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Metropolitan Home's Showtime House
House Tour

Name: Weeds, The Tudors, United States of Tara
Location: Tribeca, Manhattan
Size: 2,500 square feet
Years lived in: 2 weeks

While today's tour may not be something to try at home, there are a ton of incredible ideas to emulate as well as the chance to smile at how far a designer will go to carry out a theme. Showtime and Metropolitan Home got together with a Tribeca real estate developer to host the second open house of TV series inspired interior design.

If you look closely, you'll notice that each of these top designers made a painstaking effort to reflect the theme of the TV show around which they were designing. The show Weeds comes through pretty clearly, not just in the judicious placement of certain smokable substances, but also in the consistent use of natural elements. (The cross is a reference to a particular episode.)

For the Tudors, the photos reflect two different designers efforts to manifest a period based show in a 21st Century space.

And lastly, the room based on the teenager in Showtime's United States of Tara is a bright and energetic room replete with an overwhelming, but aesthetically beautiful array of symbols of the female American teenager.

The space is huge and open to the public to tour! Next week, there will be another housetour post with more rooms to look at, but if you want the whole experience, head down to Tribeca for a visit. All ticket proceeds go to Housing Works.

I love the designs and would be very interested in knowing who the designers are that created each room.

But as I look at other rooms on this, it's kind of mesmerizing....like sets from a Dario Argento movie.

Interesting. Do you have a clearer picture of the words on #20?

And all I can think of the weeds house is all the new scratch boxes the cat will have...

This is an event that benefits Housing Works held by metropolitan home it is suppose to be fun showing a sense of humor, not to be taken seriously.
