House Call: France's DIY Apartment
Paris

1-5-paris-apartment.jpg

Name: France Garnier
Location: Paris, France

When I first visited my apartment, it was all white — no floor in the bathroom and an ugly kitchen — but I immediately fell in love with it because I could see in my head what it would look like when I would be done with it. I had to make a big hole in a wall to have more light, to put some parquet floor in my bathroom, paint some tiling and stick it on my walls — and I all did it myself. So I'm pretty proud of my apartment now, and I would like to show it to you. I hope you'll like it the way I do. Enjoy the tour!

Thanks, France!

I love the bathroom especially. I have a similar light fixture (in table lamp form) in my guestroom and love the way a little unexpected "house jewlery" sparkles. I wish I could see more of the monkey outside the bedroom. There's a lot of whimsey in your home, making it personal and unique. Brava!

Hey luckysquid, you might be able to find a similar chest at homegoods or another similar store. It won't be as special as the one in the picture however.

I buy this from a store in France call "la maison de Judith". But I find an other version of it (in black) in another store. So I guess it's not an original one ! You could probably find one in the USA.

I believe that chest is called a "bombe chest" - they come in many different sizes, but their most recognized feature is the belly-outward curve.

Your place has that total French feel and look that never seems to be able to duplicate anywhere else....and God knows I've tried. I love it.
