House Call: Malo's "Egna Hem"
Stockholm, Sweden

Name: Malo
Location: just outside Stockholm, Sweden

I live with my husband and three children in a small house built in 1932. My house is situated just outside Stockholm, Sweden. It's a so-called "egna hem" which means "own home" which was a movement in Sweden in the 30s that gave workers the opportunity to build and own their own home. We bought our house from the family who built it and we are doing our best not to destroy the soul of the past while we at the same time have to adjust to modern life. I love our house. It's the sweetest. I mean look at it! It's small but it has a lot of soul.

Thanks, Malo!

From what I see, it looks very charming. Could we see more?

Thank you so much everyone!

I love the chair, too and been looking for something like that. Here is an affordable alternative, altho it's not as well designed as stolab's.

Lovely! My dutch aunt had a little sleeping nook like that, and it was a highlight of visiting their home. It's to die for! Love your home - thanks for sharing! :)

nomadchicky: Thank you! I hope my kids will feel like this when they grow up. Now they sleep in our bed and use theirs as a place to play occasionally.
