Robert Fuchs is the president of R. H. Orchids, a very successful nursery in Homestead, Florida. Mr. Fuchs has won over 800 prizes for his orchids and his love for the exotic plants and their hybrids is evident in his home. On ten acres of land originally purchased by his grandfather, Mr. Fuchs has a 3,800-square-foot, Mediterranean-style house, outdoor gardens and ponds (and pet alligator, Wally) and three of his ten acres are orchid greenhouses...

The New York Times presents us with Mr. Fuchs story of orchid appreciation (he hunted them in the Everglades with his grandfather) and his success and international attention for his craft in Reigning Trowel in a Kingdom of Orchids.
