I love that fireplace, and that plant (cactus?) on the windowsill.

This apartment seems like a wonderful collection of the things that a young couple has accumulated over the years. Well done. One question though, I love that seating area by the entryway, i wanted something like that for a while (I actually love a lot of things in here) but I was wondering if people hit the magazine rack when they sit to tie the shoes - it looks like a hazard to me.... But that is just me.

I like a lot of the elements of the apartment but there is definitely too much visual clutter for me. I guess that's what happens when you have kids but I would definitely have straightened up the place if I knew it was being photographed.

Eh, I bet it's great for parties. But it just doesn't look that comfortable to me. It's great to have that much space but do you really need extra seating in the bathroom? Personally I like my privacy when I'm in there, but to each his own, I guess.

The tension rods and screen piqued my interest. Looking for something like this or some other solution to hide my boiler in the basement. Has to be non-flammable. Problem that because it's right next to the door, enclosing it with the usual wall of louvre doors will bring the enclosure right into the path of the door. Hope this makes sense.

Extra seating in the bathroom is perfect if you have two small kids!

That is the coolest closet I have ever seen. Deep down, we all want to climb shelving so why not make it part of the design.

The extra seating in a bathroom is wonderful - otherwise you have to perch on the toilet lid to paint your toenails - I long for a bathroom big enough to put a chair in it!

I love that its modern etc but there is also (omg STUFF..gasp!) in the pics. Cause you know, people have stuff.

Do you by chance need a 2nd wife/Housegirl/Nanny/Intern...I will diligently dust your massive Helmut Newton book and organize, chronologically, your collection of V Magazines.

stephen - where are the asymmetrical oblong walnut mirrors in your hallway from? i ask because i have one - i bought it from someone on CL but i don't know where it's from!

what a gorgeous space. child friendly, adult friendly, party friendly. awesome!

don't listen about the clutter. it is not clutter - perfect reasonable, organized, cute child's objects are part of the design. you can't hide the reality away. (and if you did, then the questions would be "my god you are abusing the children, where are their toys!")

Finally, a perfect "lived-in" space and not the picture perfect ones that have been recently displayed. I love how the children's belongings (toys) are displayed throughout home. It is warm, exciting, and most of all comfortable.

What a great space - lots to look at and gain inspiration from. Epecially love the fireplace and the red cabinet under the roosters.

This is a great example of buying a lot of expensive things and throwing it all together without any sense of design, comfort or practicality. Conspicuous consumption at its worst.

Sorry, not a fan. Too much visual noise! How does one calm down and relax? Although that hoop chair is AWESOME!

I'd feel lost in all that space with all that stuff threatening to crash down on me. As mentioned, it just looks like a hodge podge mishmash of stuff collected throughout the years, and while that SOUNDS charming, I'm a great advocate of editing and throwing out/donating what you don't need.

I love this place. It is huge with great pieces and color, but does not look museum- like, it looks comfy and lived in. The bathroom is my dream, spacious enough to hide out (if you have kids, you'll underatand, lol). The kitchen is a dream as well. It looks like a great place to host a party adults only, or child friendly. Great use of space. I am surprised they didn't show an office space, hopefully that means they are fortunate enough to leave work at the office. My only issue is that it looks like hell to clean! hopefully that have someone to do that.

I absolutely agree that the individual components of this space are amazing. Fireplace, green chairs, bookcases- gorgeous!

I guess I'm also in with the "too much visual clutter" camp as well. I feel like if I was there, my eye would be darting around with no place to rest. Spaces like that make me a bit nervous.

fantastic. I'm ready to move in. Love the climb-up closet with handles, the green chairs and cool fireplace and the wonderful use of space. Everything felt lived in - but exceptionally cool.

Some interesting pieces here and there... but otherwise I can only think of one word to describe this: schizophrenic. It looks more like a consignment shop than a place where people actually live. I wouldn't want my kids to grow up around so much unnecessary, stupid crap. It fuels that hoard and covet mentality that will only drive future greed and irresponsibility.

i love it -- i don't see the visual clutter some have mentioned. it looks quite edited to me, though i do have toys scattered all over my own place. i love the metal storage containers! those green chairs -- wow!

It all sort of needs an anchor.

Three distinct adjacent seating areas? It looks like they have more space than they know what to do with. I bet they always end up sitting in the same area and only touch the other two pseudo-living rooms when they have parties. I was put off by some of the descriptions too. The whole thing smacks of pretension to me. I have to agree with Mr. McGinnis that it's just too much of a display of wealth without any real style.

CRAZY about the fireplace too~ trying to wrap my brain around how the design was achieved....?

Were plywood sheets ripped at varying depths then stacked/glued and somehow affixed to the wall? Maybe varying sizes of lattice style moldings could be used instead of ripping all that plywood?

If anyone has an idea, Please Share....of course, Stephan, if you'd be willing to divulge this info. it'd be most gracious of you....would you share? It speaks to me. I will attempt a version of this in my home, one-way or another...but it'd be great to get it right.

Anyone ideas?
