How To: Build a Small Wall Mount Wine Rack

11-8-rack2.jpg
We wanted a wine rack but didn't have a great deal of space. We also loved the classic design (and price point) of the hardwood, peg-and-joint wine racks that do the job without clutter or making a poor attempt at wine snob style. Therefore, we bought a small kit, put it together and mounted it on the wall, where it works very nicely (BTW, that errant cord is going to the blender....). This is how we did it:

Recipe:

1 12-bottle hardwood wine rack
1 bottle of wood glue
4 L-brackets with screws and anchors for your wall

First assemble the wood rack in your desired shape, making sure to put a dab of glue in all the holes. (more below)

Wait for it to dry (about 2 hours is good). Next, attach the L-brackets to the underside and top side of the large cross pieces so that they will meet the wall (2 on top, 2 on the bottom). Spread them out.

Holding the rack where you want it on the wall, use a pencil to mark where you want the holes. Drill holes, insert plugs or whatever anchor your wall calls for, and mount rack firmly with srews.

This will hold 12 bottles fine and you can make a larger rack as long as you add more L-brackets to hold it up.
