How To: Make a Lace Painting

10-31-lace.jpg

I've seen lace patterns like this popping up all over the place. This great instructional from Shelterrific shows you how to do it yourself for your home.

Have fun with choosing your color combinations. I want to do this in high gloss white on matte white (or gloss black on matte black).

this diy calls for spray paint - how do you do this inside an apartment and not get it over everything? just newspaper on the floor?

This looks like something that old lady Carol Duvall would do on her HGTV show.

Has anyone tried this using contrasting colors? You really can't see much with a white on white?

oldlula - i would NOT recommend spray painting inside your apartment. little airborn particles will float all over the place - despite a large dropclotch and/or newspaper spread. i once tried spray painting a vintage desk lamp a lovely shade of red, and for weeks I was wiping up what looked like red dust from nearly every surface in my apartment (thankfully it didn't do any permanent damage, though!)

I bet this is one messy and cumbersome task. Laces have patterns and the look of them promises a lot of work for anybody who would use them as subject for painting.
