How To: Make Custom Postage Stamps

01-17-stamps.jpg

What better way to notify friends of a recent move, share the results of a renovation, and show off your hard work at home to loved ones at a distance?

Any image can be made into a postage stamp at Photo.Stamps.com. Just visit the site, click on Create PhotoStamps, browse to upload your photo, and order. The price is steep: about $0.89 per stamp if you purchase one book of 20 stamps. Purchase more and the price comes down a bit. Definitely not stamps to use for bill-paying, but fun personalization nonetheless! -regina

These are the best! When my daughter was born, we had a stamp made with her photo. People talked more about that stamp then the actual announcement! Lots of fun to use. It would also be cool with a company logo - apt therapy squiggle stamps anyone?

Stamps.com is the first to have the license from the USPS to do this, but they are also inconsistent in their decision-making process of accepting/rejecting images. There are now other companies that offer the same service. I had a large order with stamps.com & they rejected my stamp without stating an actual, clear reason. When I asked why, they stated that & that all decisions are final. Pretty much one of those "'cause I said so--that's why!" Horrible business approach.

It's understandable if I was using copyrighted or offensive imagery, but this was a photo of friend's boat (a boat!). I ended up my business to www.zazzle.com & was extremely pleased. I'd highly recommend steering clear of stamps.com.

That one on the left looks like my block in Greenpoint!

Nice stamps, nice idea, probably a nice company. I had them do stamps with my jewelry on it as a supporting announcement of my business. The order was way too late. They didn't respond to my email inquiries and when I called, they didn't know what to say. When I received my stamps I wasn't thrilled with the quality of the image and I'd uploaded a photo with great clarity.

Could have just been me but I wouldn't do it again, although it truly is a great idea.

We also used these for our wedding, they were fantastic! And for Christmas, we made ones for various members of our family using photos of their homes, a big hit! We also made rubber stamps with the same images (using the rubber stamp filter in photoshop).
