How To: Make Glittered Pumpkins

10.29.glitter_pumpkin.jpg

Make them for Halloween and display them through Thanksgiving. These Glittered Pumpkins are a project from Martha Stewart...

10-30-pumpkins.jpgThe project is so simple and the outcome so beautiful. We know it's last minute with Halloween being Wednesday, but they may be simpler than trying to carve a jack-o-lantern by then.

Plus, even if they're not complete in time for Halloween, they're great decorations for the entire autumn season. We think the glittered surface would look great on acorn squashes and gourds, too. The photo up top is a beautiful example of this project from Flickr. The lower photo is straight from Martha Stewart. (Re-edited from 2006-10-30)

I think it would be neat to cover a pumpkin in non-pumpkin colored glitter. Shades of pink, maybe!

Oh man, these are gorgeous! I think they'd be fantastic as a Thanksgiving centerpiece surrounded by lush sprigs of fresh rosemary!

You can find the very fine glitter Martha uses in her line of stuff at Michael's Arts and Crafts. They have all sorts of neat colors available.

Say what you will about Martha, but it's the simple things like glittered pumpkins that proves what a genious she is.

Does anyone else have the inexplicable urge to lick these?

Agreed... These pumpkins rock and I like them in a way I can't quite explain.
