ICFF 2006: Rugged Art, Koi & Timorous Beasties,

Rugged Art
Rugged Art was part of the cool British mob that took over a bank of booth towards the front of the fair. The idea here is to take fresh NY and London designers and match them with the "millenia-old traditional skills" of Nepal and Tibet. The rugs are fresh and the designs are all funky different. We liked the one above by Steve Tsang (above left) and Romon Kimin Yang (below) best.

Koi
Koi was a very quiet and elegant booth (also British). Featuring the beautiful designs of Adam Bottomley and Kirsten Jones, the range covers leather and metal seating through wall tile, lighting and shelving. We particularly liked their leather K2 swivel chair above.

Timorous Beasties
Famous for their controversial toile patterns of last year, the Beasties are actually deep into bringing back the big bold decor of traditional England and Scotland (updated, of course). This year they showed some awesome new wallpaper and textile that had as much real drama as pure bling.

I love these guys so much, but they only sell to the non-trade in bulk - 10 roll minimum. Anyone know if they are sold retail anywhere in NYC?

I was really disappointed by Timorous Beasties this year. I love their bright bold patterns so much (I have fantasies about how I would use them) that I was really let down when I saw their booth was so monochromatic.

Well done Natty! The first step is taken, no going back now. Show them what we have seen. Time for change. Paradigm shifts, but only friendly design for living.
Blessings and Thanks
