ICFF 2007: Akari & Noodle Lighting

Noodle Lighting - Straight out of the UK, we spotted these pendant shades from Noodle and thought of Jane and Darko's Cozy Thicket. The bling of high contrast images drawn from nature were hot at ICFF, and we thought these lighting solutions would turn our readers on.

The shades are constructed by laminating fabric onto a pvc parchment, then using a hand rolling method to finish the edges. All shades are handmade in the UK, but available in 4-6 weeks.

Akari Lighting- A perennial favorite resource for all Isamu Noguchi's lighting designs, this year we found this lovely newly manufactured design with the dark black rice paper design.

Also, they were featuring this beautiful love seat/chair collection by another Japanese designer. We didn't get the name (shoot!), but they promised that these new designs would be in the store soon.

The havana daybed from anthropologie is a, umm, less-pretty and less-pod-like version of those loveseats.

Nice idea for those pendants. A couple are really nice.

If you want something like that from your own photos, check out http://www.moonshineshades.com.

Theirs are decidedly mid-century-modern if you're into that. There's a ton of options for each shade and one of the options is to use your own photo or artwork. Their shades are fiberglass.

I had them make two for me. I didn't opt for photos so I can't say how good those are or aren't, but the ones they made for me were great. They have a "rush" option, but in my case they came plenty fast without needing to pay extra.

They have the boomerang tables with the hairpin legs, too. ;->
