Peace Industry - Based in San Francisco, Melina Raissnia makes these amazing FELT rugs. An age old process, felting is remarkably durable, rich in color and allows for a complex layering of pattern. She also makes the felt bins as well. If you're looking for something NO ONE else has, this is a hot pick.

Christopher Farr Studio Series- Based in London, Christopher Farr has been around awhile, and his forte is finding great designers and getting them to make rugs with him. The Studio Series, shown here at ICFF, features his own designs and have a boldness and drama that the Brits do so well. We like.

We got the Peace rug last year. Although we are still very much appealled to the organic and natural feel of the felt rug, maintenace is such a hassle. It's not easy to sweep and too heavy to shake off dusts. Vacumn cleaning is also not recommended because of the felt. Perhaps someone has a better idea to clean the felt rug?

Maybe just hang it on the wall as art... and get a normal rug to walk on. :)

I've been a fan and customer of Peace Industry for a long time and find my rugs very easy to clean. FYI, they have the care instructions posted on their website. You CAN vacuum but as with all hand made wool rugs you want to take care not to use the beater brush which is the spinning, bristled brush on the upright. Also, my kids and I have spilled just about everything on our rugs and find spot cleaning to be remarkably easy.
