Thomas J. Ptacek: Modernist Wood Furniture
ICFF 2010

ptacek-desk.jpg Hudson Valley woodworker and furniture designer Thomas J. Ptacek was showcasing his designs at ICFF — a strong showing of attractive furniture recognizable by the use of cross-cut salvaged antique beams in much of the work. My favorite pieces were storage related: a desk with many small drawers and a slim-profile shelving system that hides the clutter and takes advantage of vertical space.

THOMAS J PTACEK MUST SEES:
Bookcase — remarkably slim profile is perfect for long hallways or high-ceilinged rooms (and it hides everything!)

This puts a smile on my face... what a fitting name for a woodworker: "little bird".

Lovely work.

Well at $9000 a bookcase, he can feed an entire flock!
