When I was in college, I had a collection of snowglobes but they just kind of sat on a shelf and got dusty. I never took the time to display them in a cool way. If I had, I might have had more desire to keep them. Displaying a collection can take the place of trying to find a perfect piece of art for your wall and also help you appreciate your collection that much more.
Even a temporary collection such as jars of preserved fruit, canned goods or wine can become an interesting focal point in a kitchen or dining room if you creatively display them.

Hmmm... some of these work better than others. I think nos. 1, 2 and 6 look good. No. 5 is pretty but not practical. Nos. 3 and 7 look a bit odd. No. 8 looks like it needs something to "anchor" it. And I admire the collection of vintage keys (which I also collect) in no. 4, but not the way they're displayed.

Cbina those are antique rug beaters...so I guess they are torture devices for rugs. Anyway I LOVE them!
